She sat there wondering what to type; noticing her breaths were slow and heavy. She thirsted for something, water, love, consistency... meaning?
She removed her fingers from the keyboard and slipped out of bed, her feet hitting the dark floorboards with a familiar thud. Shivering a little in her brightly coloured bonds underwear, she slowly made her way to the kitchen for some water. With a shaking hand she filled a cup from the sink. The cold shock of the water running down her wrist and elbow caused her to jerk; the cup slipped from her fingers and shattered in the sink.
She blinked, and there she was in her bed once again. However, she could feel a stinging sensation in her finger. Absentmindedly she brushed her hand against her leg, glancing down in surprise at the sharp pain as something moist rubbed against the bare skin.
Red.
She held her hand up to her face and plucked a shard of porcelain embedded inside the laceration. A lazy slither of blood seeped out against the white of her skin. To others it would appear she were staring intently at the sluggish flow, however her mind was racing so fast she barely registered as it dripped onto her silky pink sheets.
The sudden screech of tyres broke her reverie.
"Band-aid, band-aid," she muttered, casting her covers aside; still wondering what had happened between her last adventure out of the room.
"Where did I leave them?"
A moth fluttered in through the open window, hitting her directly in the face. Startled, she fell backwards, twisting her ankle- and knocking the laptop off the bed. The resulting thud knocked the keys lose from the board. As she reached for one of the keys, she blinked.
All of a sudden, she found herself once again underneath the weight of her laptop. The soft brush of a tail informed her that her cat had crawled in behind her; and the young tabby immediately began to purr. She resumed her fingers' pose at the keyboard, and began to type again.
dear diary... today i oticed...
Something was missing. Her [N] key!
She gave up, rolled over, pushed her laptop aside, pulled up the blankets.
An empty bottle rolled to the floor.

You're buried deep inside of me Brushing skin against my fingertips Why can't I start to trust and believe In whispered words from perfect lips Echo off my walls that are falling What is this feeling, not empty You're tearing through this mask I'm finally done with trying to hide
But it was real!
Cowering behind the door she waited, breath held...
(With her eyes tightly closed she couldn't quite remember why. This was her memory after all.)
She knows he is coming for her, footsteps down the hall, a shadow blocking the light from the crack beneath the door.
She can barricade the door, she can crawl beneath the bed; it's futile. She will be found and it won't be nice for her when she is.
(A tear falls from her eye into the lukewarm water of the bath.
Why can't she remember what was real?)
This actually happened and it was scary :'(
I was in my friends house, standing outside the bathroom door. Noone else was here aside from my partner, whose snores eminated from the lounge room down the hall. He and I were house sitting temporarily, while our friends holidayed in europe. As I hesitated outside the door, I couldnt shake the feeling that something was wrong. My arms and legs felt so heavy as if i was carrying my doona through the house with me.
I tried to stretch out a limb and felt fabric against the bare skin; though I was not moving.
Concerned now, I made an effort to concentrate entirely on moving my arm. I could feel the confines of the sleeping bag around my body
I need help...
She rubbed her eyes wearily, stifling a yawn. Beside her were the remains of what had been a delicious apple and cinnamon muffin; her pen, and the homework she had been finding every reason not to do since about 7:30 that morning.
Now that she had exhausted her creativity on a mere two lines of story, she decided she really didn't have any other reason to keep procrastinating...
But wait, did her phone just buzz?
